Speaker: Terry L. Bankston, DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY/ Office of Career Services

Please state your name and where you work.

Terry L. Bankston: Terry Bankston, Delaware State University.

Why did you enroll in the NACE Inclusive Excellence Certificate program?

Terry L. Bankston: I enrolled in the certification program due to the nature and importance of DEI and A. Our students and our corporations are really at the forefront of changing not only the current environment, but the future.

Terry L. Bankston: If I can be a change agent to make that happen by getting this certification, it'll be a great thing for not only Delaware State University, but all HBCUs and our employer partners.

What did you enjoy most about the experience?

Terry L. Bankston: What I enjoyed most about the program is the open and honest dialogue that was had with not only from the examples from Erica and the Moxie Group, to the individuals that were there and, and contributed from the NACE Board of Directors and the President and, and everyone that was a participant in the program.

Terry L. Bankston: was a participant in the program. I think everybody was intentional in making sure that their thoughts were put out the way they meant it to be. And if it wasn't, there was clarity put into it to make sure that everybody understood where everyone was coming from. I also like the mix of people in the different colleges and universities and companies that participated. Onward and upward as we move forward in this critical engagement with DEI and A.

What should others know about the program?

Terry L. Bankston: I think others should know that this time in our, in our history is one where we have to be willing to be change agents to make our universities, our, our corporate environments, our employer environments, even from an entrepreneur standpoint, where it looks like the makeup of the country, but more so that we respect the individual. And I, and I think it's important for us to not look for somebody else to do it. But if we're gonna be in this role as Career Services directors, hiring managers within companies that we have to, and it is imperative for us, to really take a good hard look at ourselves and to be intentional about our actions. We had some great conversations outside of the classroom with individuals that were not part of the program and we could only talk about so much, but they were on the edge of their seats to be able to talk about it. And I think this is something that will be a lasting program for NACE and I hope that they will continue to use the Moxie Group as their the leadership in the training.
