Speaker: julie salter

Please state your name, title, and current organization.

julie salter: Hello. I'm Julie Salter. I currently work at Louisiana Delta Community College, and I'm the career and job placement coordinator.

Why did you decide to sign up as a mentor?

julie salter: What led me to be a mentor was I really understand what it's like to feel like nobody supports you, or is there for you in your job as you're trying to figure out all the things that go along with that. I decided that I would love to be that person that is there to help build the confidence in other people and help them feel like they matter to their establishment that they're at and guide them along the way and give any advice I can give because I know that we all need that in life to feel better about where we're at. And that support and that support unit is really the main reason why I wanted to get into the mentoring.

How has the NACE mentorship program helped you grow professionally?

julie salter: NACE mentorship program has really helped me grow professionally by giving me a support system of people from all around the nation that do the same things I do, going through the same type of problems or issues that I may have and be able to talk to one another and discuss how we can just help each other through the everyday trials and better serve the students that are at the college. It has also helped build my confidence and helped me to have lifelong connections with people that I hope to be friends with forever that I otherwise would not have had an opportunity to meet. So this is a great way to grow professionally.
