Tell us about you and what inspires you to mentor others...
aurélie grand: Hi, so if you're watching this video today, it's probably because you're interested in mentoring, um, and I think it's a fantastic idea. It has helped me so much throughout my career. Um, I don't know if I would be as successful had I not had mentoring. Now I had different types of mentors. I usually had a few mentors within the organization um and it was great to really build a network and to make myself visible in the company. Um, to ensure that people knew me, knew what I could do, knew what I was interested in, and that's all good. However, the, the mentor that had the most impact on me really was a mentor from the outside, um, and I think it's because that person had no stake in In me being promoted or me joining her team or you know, my, my connection with other people with the within the company or even the reputation I had at the time. I would be able to come to this person with any, any issue, anything, and they would really look at things from a different lens, from a much more objective lens, and they helped me see things differently. They helped me step back from the situation, step back from the politics, and really truly look at the situation in a more objective manner. That person helped me. Go from being a manager to a leader, um, and it was, it was an amazing, uh, transformation and it was not as easy as it seems, you know, uh, becoming a true leader, um, even if you are a leader yourself, there are some things that you need to learn. So with that in mind, um, I really encourage you to do mentoring. Whether it's with me or with someone else, um, because you have to find the right person for you, I really, really encourage you to do private mentorship and my private mentors obviously offers that and much more because it also gives you the access to. A networking community where you may find your next employer or you may find your next employee, you never know, um, you can also ask questions on, on the forum of, of my private mentors. So what I recommend and encourage you to do is to dream big, start small, but begin now.
