In what ways did your Mr Mentor training contribute to your success?

Rebecca Timms: So I completed, uh, Mr. Mentor's residential broker course, um, about probably about 6 to 9 months into my broker journey. Um, and it was really, really helpful actually, um, you know, because I had that base knowledge, I was able to get, uh, really ask a lot of questions and, and, uh, extract all the information that helped it make me a better broker and more efficient in my processes. So things like, Uh, compliance, uh, calculations, um, even like interviews and, and processes, and a lot of the, uh, the classes each week were taught by, by different, uh, established brokers, which meant, uh, each of them had their own skill sets and, uh, and knowledge, uh, that they could, they could share. And so I could take what would work for me and bring that into my own, uh, business. So I think that that has really, uh, helped contribute to my, my success, um, thus far. Um, I've also actually, though, been attending the, uh, the free CPD sessions that they do, which, again, is held by a different expert every single week and on a, on a different topic. So it means that my level of, uh, of knowledge and exposure to information is not limited to my, uh, immediate relationship. So I can, I can really expand that.

What are one or two of the most valuable learnings that you took from your training at Mr Mentor?

Rebecca Timms: OK, so my favourite or most valuable takeaway from the Mr. Mentor course, uh, would have to be on, uh, week 2, which is on serviceability. Uh, we, we're provided with a spreadsheet that outlines the costs associated with purchasing. Um, and it basically runs through everything. So, you know, where a client, some clients, particularly, you know, newer. might think it's as simple as paying for your deposit and getting a home loan. This outlines, uh, the stamp duty, the, uh, other legal costs, the conveyancing costs, the adjustment costs, and you can tailor that based on different purchase price, um, for a client to show them, um, how much is it gonna cost to get you in. Um, then also, how much do you still need, if anything, to, to get to that price point. And then lastly, an estimate of how much the repayments are going to be, so I use that with pretty much all of my clients who are planning to buy and and don't know what is involved in that.

What is a hot tip for a new broker who is getting started?

Rebecca Timms: So I guess my hot tip for uh any new broker who's getting started would probably be to really put yourself out there. Um, there's a wealth of information and knowledge and relationships in the industry. Um, and if you go out there open and on the alert and looking for it, you, you will find it, you know, attend industry events, meet other brokers, go up and say, say hello to them and introduce yourself. Um, you'll be surprised at how generous they'll be with their, their knowledge, and, um, you know, there, there's not this competitiveness that I've experienced in the corporate world. We really do want to collaborate and support you in your, in your journey. Um, so yeah, go, go out, meet other brokers, build relationships with them. Uh, we're all in this together. Um, but also, um, make sure, you know, you're, you're turning inside and, and working your own education and your development, and you're seeking opportunities to consistently learn how to be a better broker and how to be a better business owner. And of course, Mr Mentor's got a million different ways that they can support you in that. Uh, but I think it's a fantastic industry, and, uh, I welcome any new broker and wish you the best of luck.
