Speaker: Steven Nunez, Operations Manager

Briefly explain your experience in the moving industry doing operational management.

Steven Nunez: Good morning team. My name is Steven Nunez here. I'm doing a quick video here for my operations manager experience that I have. So essentially, I've ran companies for the last 1015 years. Now, everything from sales to sales management, to operations management. I've ran everything from full PNL profit and loss, uh budgeting, hiring, firing, um buying trucks, fleets management, uh making sure that we have the right people, the right team, the right motivation for the company and getting everything ready to rock and roll. I was operations manager at a company called the MGR Development Group. Um I ran the company for about five years. We were buying and fixing of houses, we were buying, fixing, flipping homes, uh COVID hit. So what happened was the city shut down. I couldn't pass inspection for electrical H vac roofing anything whatsoever. So the owner decided to move him and his family up to Tampa to expand into Georgia and everything else. And I have my four kids here with me in Miami, so I'm not willing to move for, for any, any job or any money wise. Right.

What is your process for building a great moving team but also keeping direct labor under control?

Steven Nunez: So my process for building a great moving team essentially is just hiring the right people finding the right people with the right mindset, the mindset of, hey, listen, I own this company. I own this time. I own the space. My my own actions are gonna reflect based on my company itself. So I make sure I do the very best that I can to be able to make sure that uh we get every done properly, we get the five star rating, we get things done the right way the first time, you know, so it's just motivating people, getting people going the right way. Uh getting people to, to expand their vision and their mind and understand there's possibilities for growth, for opportunities for everything else and just, just connecting with people. That's what it is all about.

What's your process for training movers and drivers?

Steven Nunez: My process when it comes to every single employee that I hire is doing that one on one with them, making sure that I take them, that one on one, making sure they're following the right roles, the right guidelines that we provide for them as a company itself. Making sure I connect with them on a one on one basis. Uh making sure they're following the standard. They're, they're doing things properly as efficient as safe as possible and just showing them that somebody cares for them, somebody's there for them on their side and making sure that they feel good, they feel loved, they feel wanted, welcome where, where they're working it and making sure that they give their all that we give them all and they vice versa. Give us their all as well.

What's your process for handling claims?

Steven Nunez: My process during handling claims for any department that I'm with is just going over every detail, making sure that if we took before and after pictures of everything else we were doing, uh, what was the process? What happened was the customer say, what does our employee say about what happened itself? Making sure that um that things get done properly? Right? And if we are entitled to doing a claim for a customer, we own up to it. We follow the process, put everything together, submit the claim and make sure that they get taken properly and make sure we at the end of the day, get a five star rating that we need.

What's your process for fleet maintenance?

Steven Nunez: My process of fleet management is just making sure that trucks are up to date. Uh, the wheels are up to date, the gas is up to date, the oils are up to date, uh, maintain a log, our track record log, make sure everything is good. Make sure we have insurance, make sure everything is done properly on the vehicles and make sure they're well maintained with our vehicles. We can't be on the road. We can't make, make money, we can't make money with vehicles breaking down halfway through.

How do you effectively handle the scheduling and dispatch of crews daily?

Steven Nunez: Scheduling and dispatching of the crew itself is very simple, very easy. Just making sure from day one, we implement the proper expectations of what we expect from the guys, making sure they know that we're gonna work hard, but they're also gonna be rewarded as well for their hard work and just making sure we prioritize what we got on the books for the day, uh going over the day prior because I always make sure that they prior to what we're doing for the next day. That way we don't get there that morning and we don't know what we're doing, you know. So just making sure we have the right team, the right operations crew, the right dispatching crew and making sure we have the vision of what we're doing properly and, and urgent as possible, whatever crew and whatever it needs to get done first, we'll get it done first in line from A to Z.

How do you handle inventory and equipment management?

Steven Nunez: Inventory and equipment management is just making sure that everything is done properly. Uh Making sure we do inventory cycle. We make sure we do a truck cycle. I'll make sure that everything is there properly? Anything is missing. We have to do a weekly cycle just to make sure that if anything is missing, we get ASAP, we need to have everything possible in our hands in our positions right away to be able to be successful company.

What are 2 major things you do to promote safety?

Steven Nunez: Two major things I do to promote safety is just go over the safety meeting in the mornings, making sure the guys understand the rules and regulations, making sure we are up to date, making sure we're following the right protocols, making sure that, that the guys know what they need to do if they need to wear the harness, if they need to wear the backstrap their gloves or whatever needs to get done. If we're putting down floor mats in customers houses, if we're using floor protection, whatever needs to get done properly, just maintain them and just keep reminding them of what we need to do to be a safe and profitable company.

Why should we hire you?

Steven Nunez: I love this question. Why should we hire you? My favorite question of all. Yeah. So the reason why you should hire me is just because I have the experience, I have the knowledge I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese. I'm fully um bilingual as well. Um I have a clean background. No drug usage. No, nothing. I'm a first responder. Miami Dade. I'm also public notary. I'm a firearms instructor, self defense instructor. Um, I know how to lead teams. I know how to motivate people. That's what I've done for the last 1015 years of my life. And I know how to get the job done properly the first time.
