Speaker: Julia Davenport, Zentangle Workshop Instructor
Julia Davenport: Hello there. My name is Julia Davenport. I live in Essex, Vermont. I've lived here for 13 years with my family and I've been doing art most of my life, but the last 20 years been neglecting it with raising three boys. But now that they are off to college, I have been jumping back in, discovered rediscovered Zentangle about 2.5 years ago, fell in love with it, did it every night for five months and then I got certified 14 months ago, I've been teaching online, but really being in person is so much more rewarding and I have been teaching lots of different classes through my adulthood from cooking to nature science, to aromatherapy and, some other classes and now I'm ready to do some art.

Julia Davenport: The class that I'm going to be teaching coming up is a Zentangle class. So Zentangle is an art form where we draw on small tiles this size, they can even be this small. They can be different shapes, but it's, it's something that we work on and it's finishable in an hour to two hours and there's a Zentangle method. So there are eight steps and it's a practice that we can use to step away from our multitasking and our busyness, take a break and just be present and be grateful for the moment that we have and to be in the present and to just let what's inside of us come out in a creative way on paper.
Why you should sign up for the Zentangle workshop
Tuesday June 13th 6-8 pm at the Milton Artists' Guild
Julia Davenport: My Zentangle workshop will be great for artists and even people who think they can't draw. This art form is very forgiving. It also has very great benefit for your nervous system to help you relax and calm down and it gives your brain a much needed break from our multitasking and our busyness. There's a structure in Zentangle to get you going to get you started. But then it's very malleable to allow your own creativity to really shine forth. And it's also really wonderful to be able to get back and do classes in person because then we can do a mosaic at the end with everyone's art all together and you can see everyone else's ideas and their own creativity coming out from the same instruction and the same patterns or tangles that we will share.
