July 2024 - Delegate Digest

Hello, Deb Peters, Speaker of the House of Delegates for the Michigan Dental Association. And welcome to the summer issue of your Delegate Digest.

As members of the House of Delegates, there are a couple of areas in this Delegate Digest that I would like to draw your attention to. First of all, summer is the perfect time to examine where you want to be in 2024 in your leadership journey. And the nom-com or the nominating committee of your House of Delegates will be meeting shortly and part of their duty is to recruit appropriate members to run for open positions of the House of Delegates. But that's all of our duties. And so as members of the House of Delegates, I encourage you to consider yourself or someone else to fill any of those open positions. In fact, in 2022 members of the House of Delegates at the reference committee gave testimony on the value of leadership opportunities by filling in the ADA delegation. Your board listened. And this year at their June board meeting, they increased the number of delegation members that they are funding in 2024 to attend the ADA House of Delegates in New Orleans. So consider this an opportunity and and ask to expand in your leadership opportunities at the ADA. Secondly, you'll note that the Board of Trustees had their summer board meeting and the highlights are included. Please take a look at those notes and consider calling up any of your representatives on the Board of Trustees for further details. Our next Board of Trustees meeting is September 15th in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Normally we're in Okemos because of the combination with the caucus pre delegation meeting for the ADA we're on the West side. So perhaps this will be convenient for you. Please let us know we'd be happy to make room for you to be able to attend and view the meeting and your house and your Board of Trustees at work. And lastly, one thing I know about you, if you're watching this video, you're a leader, you're a leader in our delegation, you're a leader in our MDA.
