Speaker: Janet Ottersberg, Director of Education, MTIH

Janet Ottersberg: Hi, my name is Janet Ottersberg. I am the Director of Education at the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health and I live in Los Angeles, California.

How has cancer impacted you and/or those that you love?

Janet Ottersberg: So, cancer has impacted me from as long as I can remember. Growing up, I remember people talking about the C word. It was even hard to say the word back then, and I had several family members that had passed away from cancer while I was growing up. But those were cousins, those were aunts and uncles, so, it didn't really feel like it was directly affecting me until my oldest brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. when I was in high school and given two months to live. That had a huge impact on my life, had a huge impact on my career, and everything moving forward. But the biggest impact for me was that he chose not to do any standard of care medicine and did other approaches and lasted, or I should say lived , another 24 years beyond that original diagnosis.

How has the Metabolic Approach to Cancer impacted your life?

Janet Ottersberg: The Metabolic Approach to Cancer has guided me in my preventative health care plan in my life. On one side, in my family, there's diabetes, and on the other side, there's cancer. And, so for me, prevention has been a huge driving force in my life. And the Metabolic Approach to Cancer has given me the tools and the empowerment to do true preventative care and lifestyle changes.

What is your WHY? Why do you share your time, talent and treasures with MTIH?

Janet Ottersberg: I've spent my entire career bridging the gap between standard of care and alternative medicine, or alternative practices, and empowering my clients to use a holistic approach to health for their own healing purposes, and there was always something missing. As an occupational therapist working in standard of care, I never felt like what I was doing with my clients was enough, because I knew that they didn't have the base, they didn't have the terrain to truly make changes with the work that I was doing. And so, I am just so excited about helping to get the message out and empower people in knowing that they can make big changes in their health, that they can change their terrain, and that's going to change everything. That there's band aids that you can put on top, or you can change what's underneath in order to truly create health. My "WHY" is to help others and empower others in helping themselves to optimal health -- to have a healthy terrain in their own body, to have a healthy terrain in their family life, and to live on a healthy planet.

Why should others get involved?

Janet Ottersberg: I love the quote, "Be the change that you want to see in the world," and I think that being a part of the MTIH community is such a powerful way to be the change that you want to see in the world.
