Speaker: Rosalind Eve

Introduce yourself and show us what you made in the Sculptural Embroidery course.

Rosalind Eve: Hello. I'm a textile artist based in Sheffield, England. I've been doing free machine embroidery for many years now. But they've only, I've only ever done it directly onto fabric. And now I can do freestanding sculptured embroideries, because I've done the course and it's opened up a whole new world to me. And here's my latest piece which is a Pond Microbe, a chain of pond microbes In fact. I'm in love with microbes. I think that they're extremely beautiful and I'm trying to make them more accessible to the rest of the world. So there we are. That's, that's my latest piece and both the technique that I use to make them and the mounting I've learned from Meredith. Made all the difference, really Brought, brought, brought it alive.

What was your favourite thing about the Sculptural Embroidery course?

Rosalind Eve: There are so many things about sculptural embroidery course that I absolutely love. But one of them in particular is is that it involves so many other people and you get feedback from so many other people and comments and that's so helpful to see where I'm going and also to be inspired by the work of other people, not just Meredith, obviously, which is inspirational, but the work that all of the other course participants put up, fantastic, interesting, challenging, really, really helpful. The other thing that I found particularly good about it was the fact that I could do it in my own time at my own speed. So I could practice a new thing over and over again. to my satisfaction rather than feeling is I've just got to get it finished or take it home to get it finished or whatever. So, yeah, really. But the other people's involvement, the Facebook group and Meredith's feedback directly for my piece is really helpful.

What would you say to someone who was considering taking this course in the future?

Rosalind Eve: Anyone considering taking this course, I would absolutely recommend them to go ahead and do it. It is gonna, you're gonna really enjoy it, you're gonna really enjoy it. You're gonna get more out of it than you ever imagined and learn all sorts of things that you didn't think you needed to learn. It's just really worth doing and enjoyable, relaxing, confidence building. It's great.
