The matrix Intellizone proximity detection system allows users to create customized dynamic safety zones around all mobile equipment. Intellizone technology detects workers in low visibility or obscured line of site locations while allowing the operator to work in a safe location. Dynamic safety zones are generated by four integrated drivers which are installed in each corner of the mobile unit. A compact battery powered locator communicates with Intellizone audibly warning the miner if they enter an active safety zone. Using Matrix exclusive smart zone technology, Intellizone generates a caution zone shown in yellow and a shutdown zone shown in red. These zones change automatically depending on the equipment's operating mode. With Intellizone equipped, continuous miners and shuttle cars work together. An operator zone within the safety zones can be created that allows the operator special access during off loading. When a miner enters the caution zone, an audible and visual alert is activated. If a miner enters the shutdown zone, audible and visual alerts change and the equipment automatically stops until the worker exits the shutdown zone. Once outside the zones, normal operation resumes on faster moving equipment. The safety zone extends as speed increases. Unlike bubble zone systems, Intellizone can be shaped for precise rib to rib coverage. This helps prevent nuisance stops due to workers and cross cuts. Intellizone sees through plastic barriers and a in cab monitor helps alert the operator and indicates approximate location. Intellizone is durable, simple to operate, simple to operate and easy to maintain, and MSHA approved. Once the shuttle car has finished unloading and the operator changes direction, Intellizone automatically reverses its zones to cover the new direction of travel.
