Speaker: Jenna Libersky, Principal Researcher, Mathematica

What excites you about your current HCBS work with states?

Jenna Libersky: OK, I am working with the State of Iowa to transform its home and community based services system. We started working with the state by evaluating its H CBS program and now we're working alongside them to implement many of our original recommendations. And what excites me about the project is seeing those recommendations come to life, the more we hear from Iowans as we plan for the change, the more we learn how important it is and it's this sense of mission that drives our team forward.

What has been the most rewarding moment you’ve seen grow out of the partnership you and your team have with your state project?

Jenna Libersky: For our work with Iowa. I had the pleasure of participating in two weeks of conversations with Medicaid agency leadership and people throughout Iowa to talk about the vision for systems redesign. And what was so rewarding was meeting people face to face, hearing their concerns and enthusiasm. And since then, our team has worked hard to ground our work in this feedback so that the changes we make reflect the needs of the people who use services.

What is the magic in Mathematica that moves the needle on HCBS access and quality?

Jenna Libersky: In working with the State of Iowa. The Mathematica Magic has been all about diverse teams. We have been able to bring together top nos researchers, highly capable consultants and skilled project managers across all levels. And we've shifted the skills on our team to adapt to the needs of the project at any given time. All the while we've tried to stay grounded in our company's mission of providing rigorous objective support.
