What is your name and role at MAS?
Matt Taylor: Hi, my name is Matt Taylor. I'm a Business Risk Adviser at MAS and I specialise in the cyberspace.
How long have you been at MAS?
Matt Taylor: So, I'm the newest Business Risk Adviser. I've been at MAS for nearly a month and it's been amazing.
What roles have you had prior to working at MAS?
Matt Taylor: So I've been in the insurance industry for 7 years. 5 of those were spent broking and I've worked with direct insurers throughout that time as well.
What does the Business Risk team do?
Matt Taylor: So we work with business owners and we help them to see the financial risks that are present. We support the Members with trying to provide ways to mitigate and reduce those risks, and then ultimately, we provide insurance solutions to to cover those risk in those areas of financial exposure.
What do you do in your role?
Matt Taylor: So in my role, I go and meet with our Members, I discuss the insurance products and ensure that they understand what we're covering. I look to provide solutions for, any areas where cover is not currently in place along with again, working to just mitigate risks and ensure that we can reduce the risks wherever possible. We go above and beyond for our Members. So yeah, we're always here to help and support our Members with whatever they need. We will also then refer through to our life and health team or Business Advice Services and things like that to further assist with the Members and their businesses.
Why is Business Insurance important?
Matt Taylor: So when the 'you know what' hits the fan, business insurance is there to ensure that your business can continue running. That's obviously important for the business and its owners, but also for the employees and the customers of that business as well.
What hobbies and interest do you have outside of MAS?
Matt Taylor: So, I've got 2 wee Cavoodle puppies at home. So they take up a lot of my time. Other than that I've recently got into gyming, so I'm enjoying that. And yeah, in my home gym, the puppies come and keep me company there too. So that's pretty much me outside of work at the moment.
