Hi, my name is Mary. I have lived in the Muncie area for over 22 years now. My husband and I moved here when our oldest son was born. At that time I chose to be a stay-at-home mom. My husband's at Ball State University. And because the cost of living is so low here, we were able to move here and I was able to stay at home and take care of our family, which was really beneficial for us. Uh Our kids are older now. They've passed through the local school systems. The public schools are really good. There's lots of choices. Uh families choose which public school they want their kids to go to. Um and it's easy to move around amongst the schools and there's also very good private and charter school choices. A lot of families enjoy going to the Ball State um school called Burris Laboratory Schools and they also have a junior and senior high school at the Ball State campus, the Indiana Academy, which is for academic um academically excellent junior and seniors in high school. So there's lots of good school choices. There's also lots of activities. My husband and I enjoy sporting events. We go to Ball State's football and volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's. Um We travel to Indianapolis for the Colts and Chicago for the Cubs and Cincinnati for the Reds. They're all very close by. Um There's lots of arts choices here. If you enjoy the arts, there's every first Thursday there's the arts walk. Ball State has their Emens Auditorium um for stage presentation, Symphony and musical presentations, there's Muncie Civic Theatre for people that enjoy going to the theater or people that enjoy being on stage. They use community members to create the shows. Um There are a lot of youth and adults both enjoy doing that. Um There's outdoor activities, there's lots of biking and hiking trails and there's White River passes through here, so a lot of people enjoy canoeing and walking along the river.
