Introduce yourself (your name, where you're from, what you do)
Hi, my name is Madison. I work at Grow Wabash County for my day job. My evening job, I work at the wine and cheese shop down at the Charley Creek Inn Hotel. It's a boutique hotel in downtown Wabash. We have a lot of wines. We also have a lot of whiskies, beers, all the spirits that you can think of. If you name it, we'll probably have it and if we don't, we can order it for you. Just wanted to say welcome to the community and if you need a drink, I'm here on Tuesdays.
What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?
I grew up on the south side of Wabash and when I left for college I came back and moved back in with my parents because their rent was free. And when I met my husband, we moved to the north side of town and lived north in the county and had great neighbors out there. We were on kind of a busy road, so we moved back to the south side. We're in a very quiet neighborhood, we're close to the country, which we like and we have about two acres of property in in the city limits, which is really nice. Yeah, it's nice for my husband and I and our dog Hank and our two cats just hanging out. It's nice.
What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?
A must do event in Wabash would be hitting the river trails. They just added like eight miles of trail on the river from Wabash to Lagro. And I mean it's great to walk would recommend bringing something with you like a water or something because I didn't, but a walk is, it's an easy ish walk. It's long, but it's pretty flat most of the way. But at the end there's a pizza place so you can't go wrong.
Lastly, end with an invitation. Invite potential new neighbors to come join your community!
job and my side gig is working here Here at the wine and cheese shop down at Charley Creek and I'll peek around and show you kinda what it looks like in here. It's a little quiet. There's great views downtown. I'll show you outside the windows, the Eagles Theater. Sorry, it's in reverse and the courthouse over in the distance. It's nice during first Fridays. It's usually pretty busy in here. And there's an open container downtown, if that's your thing, If you want to like hop around downtown to the local businesses, that's always really fun. Yeah, come in on Tuesdays, you'll see me.
