Speaker: Leann Parrish, Community Partnerships Coordinator, Wabash College

Introduce yourself (your name, where you're from, what you do)

Leann Parrish: Hi, my name is Leanne Parrish, and I have lived in Crawfordsville for a total of about eight years. I am the Community Partnerships Coordinator at Wabash College, meaning my role is to connect Wabash with the greater community and create long lasting partnerships.

What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?

Leann Parrish: I have lived in three different places in Crawfordsville. I've lived in Shady Knoll apartments, then I bought a house on College Street and now I live in the Ashton Run Ashton Walk neighborhood. Um, what I love about this neighborhood in particular is it's really quiet and all my neighbors are really nice and generous and kind. Um, whenever I take walks in the evening, I can always be sure to see people who are going to say hello, check and see how my family and I are doing and just be really neighborly neighborly. I sometimes jokingly refer to my neighborhood as Pleasantville because everyone is just so nice.

What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?

Leann Parrish: If you move to Crawfordsville, one thing I say that you should definitely experience are the live music events on Pike Place, usually their first Fridays of each month, during the summer months. And sometimes there are other special events that happened down at Pike Place. But there's live music, usually a beer and wine garden. There are food trucks and you can just sit and enjoy music and develop a greater sense of community. So that's one of my favorite things to do, and I would recommend that you try them out, too.
