Introduce yourself (your name, where you're from, what you do)
Kylie Jackson: Hi, my name is Kylie Jackson. I'm born and raised in Marion Indiana, um and I am the President/CEO at the Marion Grant County Chamber of Commerce.
What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?
Kylie Jackson: I live close to downtown um in Marion Indiana. I live between on Nelson Street basically between downtown and the hospital. Um the things I love about this neighborhood, I'm at a pocket park right now, that's about two blocks from my house. That is right on the river walk that connects Matter Park to downtown. Um I love that within, you know, a five minute walk. I can get to this. Um I can get to this river walk, I can get to my office downtown, I can get to um my favorite bars, one of the favorite coffee shops, some of my favorite restaurants. Um I love the neighborhood garden in my neighborhood. Um I also love the homes in my neighborhood. Lots of beautiful historic homes, some of them um like mine, you know, are a steal and they're just waiting for somebody to love them. So, uh my neighborhood is full of uh, you know, young, 20 and 30-somethings that um really love being a part of this community. So I just love being around my neighbors, being around our neighborhood and uh my dog loves it too.
What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?
Kylie Jackson: One thing you must do during your first year uh in Marion is attend the Christmas City Walkway of Lights um parade and festival. So this happens um uh I think it's a Saturday before Thanksgiving and it is um just it feels like a Hallmark movie. It's a full day of vendors and um horse drawn carriage rides and um all kinds of um really fun community events and then it ends with um the Christmas City parade and Santa's arrival and um lighting of the Christmas tree on the courthouse square. And then um that parade signifies the beginning of the Walkway of Lights. So that's a really cool um light display that runs um close to downtown and then through Matter Park. So you definitely have to check that out and it's um the parade before Thanksgiving, that's the kickoff of the season. Um So I would highly recommend um checking that out your first year here.
