Speaker: Kayla Bailey, Project Coordinator, KEDCO(Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation)
Introduce yourself (your name, where you're from, what you do)
Kayla Bailey: Hi, my name is Kayla Bailey. I live in Winona Lake here in Kosciusko County. I am a full time mother of three, and I work part time for the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation.
What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?
Kayla Bailey: We live in Winona Lake here in Kosciusko County and our neighborhood is called Southtown and it is just south of town and it is so beautifully connected to Winona Lake Village area with all of these trails where I am right now. So in the woods there are lots of off road trails where great for mountain biking and that sort of thing. Or just walking. I like to hike here with my little kids and just explore. There's also a paved greenway that goes all the way to Winona Lake Park and all the great Village shops. So we love just being so connected to Winona Lake Village and being able to um have this woods here at our disposal to explore, to ride bikes. just throw the kids in the trailer, hop on bikes and go to the park and the Winona lake. So it's one thing that we love about where we live.
What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?
Kayla Bailey: I would say one must do activity. It's honestly, really hard to pick, but just get out on the water somehow, whether it's Winona lake or whether you just take a quick jog in the car up to Wawasee about 25 minutes away from where I am, grab your own kayak, rent one a paddleboard, take a tour on a boat, get out on the water and just be able to explore. That's one of the most cheapest and most fun things to do around here is just to explore the lakes and everything that goes along with that.
Lastly, end with an invitation. Invite potential new neighbors to come join your community!
Kayla Bailey: We would love to have you join our neighborhood. I love the community that we've built, the neighbors behind us and beside us and in front of us to the side and down the road are all amazing. I love that. We can often just say text a couple of the parents in the area and just say, hey, you know, we're meeting at the park in an hour, like bring the kids or you know, we're cleaning out the van in the driveway, send your kids down if they want to play like we'll hang out. Just great community and support carpooling to school, borrowing an egg, that type of thing. That's what happens here. And so we would love it if you would join our community.
