Speaker: Elisa Worland, Community Development/Health & Human Sciences Educator, Purdue Extension
Introduce yourself (your name, where you're from, what you do)
Elisa Worland: Hi, I'm Elisa Wor Land. I'm from San Jose, California originally, but I now live in Richmond indiana. I work for the Purdue Extension Office. Our mission is to deliver practical research based information that enhances lives and livelihoods.
What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?
Elisa Worland: I currently live in the old historic part of Richmond. A lot of the homes along there were built around 1900 or so, so they're really cool and pretty. Um, I'm also walking distance from the library, farmer's market, downtown, uh, bars and the best bagel shop in town. It's a great place to live and my neighbors really look out for each other.
What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?
Elisa Worland: There are three things that you should check out when you move to Richmond one, you should go to Roscoe's and either get yourself a coffee or a fancy craft brew. They have some fantastic stuff there, live music and you can get your euchre on. Um, two, you should check out the Shakespeare festival in the summer. Uh, they do Shakespeare in the park and it's fantastic. Three, uh, you should go to "The Meltdown." It's a giant ice sculpture festival that they do each year in Richmond and they line the streets with ice sculptures. And how can you go wrong with people with chainsaws carving ice?
