Angel Wehrly: Hello, My name is Angel Wehrly. I'm so pleased to hear that you're interested in Wabash County. I actually work at Grow Wabash County and I'm a student at Manchester University which is located in North Manchester of Wabash County. I'm here right now just sitting on campus admiring our newly built chime tower. I have lived in Wabash County all of my life and even though I've been here all my life, I am still learning new things about what the community has to offer every single day. The community is always evolving, changing, there's always new things to do and it is so fun to just see this transition before your very own eyes. It's so easy to get involved in the community if that's something you're interested in. So I challenge you, If you move here to Wabash County, I would love to take you out to an event for the young professionals or for a tour. So I hope to see you here
What part of town do you live in and what do you love about your neighborhood?
Angel Wehrly: I have actually lived in the city of Wabash for all of my life. I currently live on the northern part of Wabash and the thing I love about my neighborhood besides the fact that it's super duper quiet and very chill. I love our neighbors because they are so willing to answer their door for anything. For example, I don't have a dog, but I love dogs. My neighbor has a little chihuahua and if I just need that furry fix, I know I can knock on her door and be like can I pet Jerry please? And they're going to be willing to, I love it.
What's a must-do event or activity that remote workers should experience in their first year?
Angel Wehrly: So for the city of Wabash, I would say the must do activity or event would definitely be first Fridays. This happens every single month, the first friday of the month. The whole downtown is opened up. There's food trucks, there's usually a lot of just random activities going on downtown, all of the stores, the cute little downtown shops will have their doors open, usually a sale going on and it is just a vibrant and full of life evening. Like you can go down there and just mingle the night away, shop the night away, whatever your little heart desires, it's definitely the must do activity.
Lastly, end with an invitation. Invite potential new neighbors to come join your community!
Angel Wehrly: If you move to the community, I challenge you to come to a young professionals event with me. It doesn't matter, we have tons of educational or philanthropic events, anything from volunteering at a church for blessings in a backpack, to getting a few drinks at a bar downtown. We could do whatever event you want to come to, and I will gladly introduce you and help you network in our community. I hope to see you soon.
