Speaker: Sarah Love

Could you describe your experience working with me and/or the Make Shi(f)t Happen team?

Sarah Love: I appreciate the opportunity to put together a testimonial of how having Desiree's content has affected my life. Just watching things on tiktok and learning and seeing the uh conversation that goes on during lives has opened my eyes to things. I didn't really know. Desiree has talked about how like having men come into your life can cause you to feel a little bit insecure or scared. And she was like, imagine what it's like when a man comes up to you and just starts feeling all comfortable and doesn't give you space. And I was really able to equate those two things and see how I can conduct myself in a way that is safe to the people who are in my environment. Um Another big thing I feel that Desiree having experienced the cultures of white culture and black culture for her upbringing really puts a whole different spin on what the person is telling you. It just, I feel that Desiree has this incredible ability to speak to you in a way that's like, oh, that's where I fit into this whole experience. Oh That's how I can, can bring about change and equality and be a part of that piece that is, is exciting, which is that change and, and seeing people be safe enough to just live their lives. So I definitely recommend working with Desiree. I feel like the hard conversations are still very much had and they're had in a way where you're in an environment where you're not taking space from black people to have the conversation. Um But you're also interacting with someone who can give you a viewpoint that is specific to living that experience. I feel like the idea of having land and being able to have retreats and physically be with people is something that is exciting to support and be a part of and definitely whatever aspects that you have or what pieces Desiree needs, I feel like are for the benefit of not just the property and getting that, you know, available to people, but it's a benefit for every single human being who is alive. This is your opportunity to like really change things. So if you've kind of been looking for that, like, where do I fit in? How do I do this? What do I do? Desiree is a great resource to be able to start understanding and learning what's needed to create change and equality. Thank you, Desiree.

How would you describe Desiree and Make Shi(f)t Happen in three words?

Sarah Love: I would describe makeshift tapping as informative and then desiree as strong and admirable. I admire Desiree, especially for the strength that it takes to put yourself out there and have these conversations.

What makes Desiree and the Make Shi(f)t Happen movement stand out against the competition?

Sarah Love: I think the thing that stands out to me the most about Desiree is the compassion. I feel that being somebody who is like on the receiving end of systemic racism to be able to say, oh, hey, this is how it's destroying you too. This is how it's a system that won't work for anyone. This is how and kind of like feeling like this person who created this like an environment of trust was helping you take the blinders off. Um because sometimes as a white person, it's like, how can I help save black people? And I feel that that completely changed with Desiree because she said it's how to save humanity. This is a humanity problem. And I feel like that is what set Desiree apart for me specifically was it felt more like how can we change this for everybody because it's not working for anybody. And that is the piece I think that feels like sets Desra apart to me.
