Speaker: Erin Kenney, VPO
How long have you been with the organization and practicing?
Erin Kenney: Hi, Ivy team. My name is Erin Kenney. I'm a physical therapist by way of background. I joined Ivy back in 2004 and first started as a clinical director of our Harrison, New York clinic. I've been fortunate enough to be on this journey at Ivy for more than 20 years and have had the benefit of playing lots of different roles here. I currently serve as our vice president of operations for our Northeast Market.
What is your personal value and how does this show up for you here at work?
Erin Kenney: So one of my favorite personal values is empathy, and I first learned the importance of empathy as a clinician, where it not only meant understanding the symptoms and the personal experiences of my patients, but more importantly, it was about establishing an authentic connection where the patient felt seen, heard, and most importantly valued. This is really carried over into other roles that I've had, because I find that listening to and supporting my colleagues is a really valuable way of getting things done together.
What is your ‘super power’ that other therapists could lean on you for?
Erin Kenney: So I would say my superpower is rooted in my personal value of empathy. I see myself as a connector. I'm that person who knows a person. So if you have a tough clinical question, I'll link you to the right expert. If you're looking to grow professionally, I would be happy to connect you with a great mentor. I've learned so much myself by aligning and working alongside others, and I also see myself as a go to resource for complex issues.
What has been your proudest moment to date that you have worked on at Ivy?
Erin Kenney: Really hard to choose just one proudest moment because there are so many. I'm proud to be part of a company that's grown from just a few clinics when I joined back in 2004 to nearly 700 today. And what makes me even prouder is the fact that we haven't lost sight of the entrepreneurial spirit, and the foundation of it's all about the people, which is why I joined in the first place. I still feel that same excitement about Ivy and where we're headed as I did when I first joined. And I'm especially proud of the fact that we've kept clinical excellence at the center, and it created this environment around continuous learning. One of my favorite memories is launching the orthopedic residency program and feeling the excitement of that very first class graduating. Fast forward to today, we now have multiple residencies and so many talented clinicians and leaders graduating who will ultimately play a huge role in the continued success of Ivy.
