What made you decide to invest in the One-on-One Coaching Program with Dave?
Terry C.: Greetings. All this is Terry. Um I'm looking at, um, what made me decide to invest on the one on one coaching program with Dave. I stumbled upon, uh Dave Mens on the, the Facebook forum and he had posted about his, his program and I signed up for the meet and greet, informational uh, phone call. Uh, and what was supposed to be a 15 minute phone call turned out to be a more like a 45 or 60 minute phone call. Dave was pretty chatty and, uh, so am I so, uh I felt that I connected with Dave right away and I could see the advantage of, um, how his years of business experience could assist me to navigate forward with my business in a, in a positive way with a lot of fresh viewpoints to it. Um, almost like kind of a, a one on one brainstorming session with somebody where I, I had an idea to do this and he would say, yeah, but you could do it this way or you could add on to that it and embellish it and it was just, I felt like this was gonna be the boost that I needed to, to move forward in a positive way with my business.
Did you find Dave to have the expertise you'd expected in a business coach?
Terry C.: I found Dave to have, um, a tremendous amount of expertise. There wasn't a field or a, um, a subject that we would tackle together that he didn't have some sort of perspective on, uh be it the same perspective of mine or again, adding on to what I was already planning or thinking about doing. And he would say, yeah, you could do this but also add on to this. And he uh was full of networking, people, contacts and the business and different aspects of the business. Um And it, it seemed he pulled and relied a lot or he, he pulls and relies a lot on his experience. And the 15 years he's had his own businesses and how he started from ground up and was doing, uh, you know, had a full time job and then was still trying to run his, his Laundromat. Uh I didn't, I don't have that problem and this is my full time business. But even so all the quirks that you learn and the mistakes that you learn. Um, and I have suffered some of those mistakes and a lot of those quirks and it's fun to get a good perspective, a fresh perspective on it. A different perspective that says, well, because I'm thinking, well, I can do this and I'm going to fix it by doing this and then they would say, yeah, but, you know, you could also do, you know, A and B and not just C, um, or D or Q. So it was, um, uh, you know, he didn't, there wasn't a, uh, a topic that he didn't tackle and, or have some thought to it, um, on how to approach it. So, um, I, I, I was very, very, very, very, very happy with the amount of expertise and professionalism that he exhibited.
Was anything surprising or eye-opening that you got from your calls with Dave?
Terry C.: Uh the majority of my calls with Dave were uh very eye opening again in a different uh fresh perspective, a different way of looking at, at a problem or um trying to come up with a new idea. And I thought it was a clever idea and then he would say it is, but there's five other ones too that uh just hadn't even gone through my head at all. I think the big eye opening thing um for me was we were having a discussion about how to approach my corporate landlord in uh getting an extension of my lease. And he spent a lot of time talking with me about how to reach out to the landlord and explain that my business is not like any other tenant that he's going to have in there. I can't just pick up my washing machines and leave the building and say I split, I'm, I'm diving out on my, on my lease because I don't have any income because of COVID or whatever reason. I'm not gonna, I can't leave my lease. I love my location. I have to have more time in it and it was a way of presenting it how I'm a very, very valuable tenant. And um I want to grow my business. I wanna stay in my location. And I really think in the end that pushed me over uh to get the uh the extension that I wanted, at least I got a 15 year extension on my lease. And um I don't think without being able to work out with him and take notes and then write What I was going to say to the landlord and say, and explain about how my business is and, and as a tenant, I'm like no other tenant that they have in their complex. And I, I got an answer from them within in less than 48 hours to, to do that extension. So that to me was, was like a pivotal moment in our many phone calls.
Would you recommend Dave's Coaching Program to other Laundromat Owners?
Terry C.: I would definitely recommend uh Dave's coaching program to other laundromat owners, especially newbies like myself, I've now owned my laundromat for five years. Um But I went into it really knowing, not a whole lot. My, my brother had owned a laundromat for about 10 years, which he had sold the year before I bought mine. So he was my go to person, I think, but his approach was very different than mine. Uh very a lot more businesslike and uh uh P N L stuff. And I'm more into my role as a business in the community and how I can add, add that to the community and focus on that aspect of it as well as, you know, profit loss in my business. Um And it was just so awesome to have somebody to bounce all my questions and concerns and worries off of and have someone say, yeah, that's a legitimate concern. Yeah, it's a real worry. Uh Yeah, you are gonna have to deal with it. And here's some suggestions. Here's, here's an example of how I did it. Here's an example of how somebody else I know did it. Um and not have to put it out there on a forum and get 4000 worthless responses, but get something focused and the direct, that kind of answered my question and helped me with my decisions to move forward. Um, in a way that, um, I'm not sure It would have worked out just, you know, the forms are great to, to put some questions out, but to have that one on one perspective with someone who's been there, who's done it, who's done it five different ways and can tell you which of those five is the best and cuts down my, my lag time and my lost time um on trying to find 15 different ways and maybe I could just need to try three. So, uh it, I would definitely recommend it to someone that was kind of in the same place. I was newbie enough because I was 3.5 years into it before I got found Dave. Um And it really helped focus me in, in a direction to what needed to be handled right away, what didn't need to be handled right away and how to better handle certain things. Uh, it, it, it, it was, it was very focusing for me.
