What made you decide to invest in the One-on-One Coaching Program with Dave?

Steve Burk: When I first started my journey towards owning a laundromat, I was brand new to the industry. I did not have the benefit of having worked as an attendant or a manager for someone else, So I had zero knowledge base. I did a lot of research to gain a lot of information. And when I was doing the research, I realized if there's this much stuff you're finding, what don't you know, what aren't you finding, what else is out there? And I realized there must be just a ton of information and that I needed help. So I knew I needed to find someone that could help walk me through the basic steps. And right about that time was when I happened across Dave Menz with his podcast interview with Jordan Berry and just listening to what he said really rang true to me as something that sounded very interesting and that it's kind of the path that I'd like to follow to store ownership and then multi store. I ended up contacting Dave, we had a discussion and the information he laid out as to the value he could provide. And in the type of, uh, I guess I'll say leapfrog steps that we could take and try to avoid all the land mines that a lot of people entering the industry that don't have help tend to suffer from. I just thought it was a no brainer and the cost wasn't even an issue. It was the value and the value far outweighed the cost. So, I decided to jump on board with Dave and I haven't looked back yet.

Did you find Dave to have the expertise you'd expected in a business coach?

Steve Burk: During my initial coaching call with Dave, I was struck by how good of a communicator he is. He was able to relay information to me in a way I could understand. We could have a relatable conversation. But as the coaching calls went on, that's where I really started to see his breadth of knowledge and the depth of information he possessed. He's able to take the information that he's gathered over the course of his career and mold it to fit the situation that I'm facing. I remember one of the first things he told me was his job was to tell me what he thought would be best for me to do in my situation and not what would be best for him, because sometimes those are very different. Throughout the calls, there was never a time that he wasn't able to help me. I even remember one time, I had been stressing about something for three days. I couldn't sleep. I was worried about it. It was during the lease negotiation process and I called him and in less than five minutes, he just solved the problem and I wondered what I had been worried about the whole time. The value there was immense.

Was anything surprising or eye-opening that you got from your calls with Dave?

Steve Burk: Instead of using the word surprising or eyeopening, I'd rather use the word impressed. There were many occasions that I was impressed with the answers that Dave was able to give to some of the questions that I had or the issues that I was facing. And all of it comes back to that depth of knowledge that he possesses and the fact that he's, you know, to quote it "been there, done that". He's faced most of the problems, I suppose, the industry has to offer. And he was very quick to admit that many times they tried multiple solutions to a problem that they found out didn't work, but they kept going until they did find a solution and then they stuck with it. So not only did he have the answer, but he was just, he was willing to just give it to me. And then the two of us could talk about it and see how we could make that fit with what I was facing.

Would you recommend Dave's Coaching Program to other Laundromat Owners?

Steve Burk: I think it would be impossible for me to overstate how important I think it is for anyone either entering this industry or someone who's already in it that's either struggling or wants to bring their business to the next level to hire a business coach. You need someone in your corner that's been there. Someone who knows how to handle the situations that you're facing. I've already recommended Dave's services to several people and I'll continue to do so. I can't imagine going through this journey without someone like him in your corner.
