Hi, students. My name is Julie Beadle and you can get in touch with me in this course by using the message function at the top of your course page, which is the quickest way to get a hold of me. You can also email me at J Beatle JB E AD L E at Lakewood dot E D U. You can also call me at 1 805 170857 and then use extension 7 13 in this course, you're going to learn about what a paralegal does in a law office. Um What the different sources of law are. So where do we get the laws in the United States? What kinds of ethical issues might arise for a paralegal? Um And how you can find the law, how you can write memos and other motions that we file in the legal system. And then we're going to talk a little bit about uh criminal and civil law just to get you an idea of what that's about before you move into your later classes to be successful in this course. My number one tip is to always reach out to me if you have a question. Um, I can help you get on the right track if you don't understand what the question asks or how to find more information about that topic. So, rather than spend a ton of time trying to figure out on your own, reach out to me. And the other thing I would say as a tip in this course is to be patient with yourself. You're learning about a new field, a new area. Um So it's gonna take time for you to feel comfortable and that is perfectly fine. I love the course of introduction to paralegal studies because this is where you build the foundation and this is where you kind of get to see what the legal system is all about. Um And I hope that I will help you kind of get your feet wet and see, you know, how great this field can be and how it's going to be a good fit for you.
