Hi, students. My name is Julie Beadle and I will be your instructor for principles and practice of litigation. So in this course, I want to make sure that you understand the general procedures for initiating a lawsuit in the civil uh realm. Um You understand some of the ways you can perform investigations in an ethical manner and you know what your role is in a civil lawsuit, whether it be uh helping with the deposition or preparing for trial. And then after all of that, making sure you know, the proper procedure for filing an appeal in a civil matter. My tips for this course are to make sure that you always reach out to me if you have any questions. Um, some of these concepts can be a little bit detailed. So I want to make sure that you have everything right. And if you feel like you're getting off track that we get you right back on the right path. Um, and then the other tip is to make sure that you are completing any readings and learning any of those rules of civil procedure, uh, of filing and the correct formatting for documents because that's going to be really important to having a successful lawsuit. I love this course because it is so important to know the fundamentals of how our civil justice system works, how you actually go about proceeding and making filings in a lawsuit to be successful. So this is going to give you kind of the nuts and bolts of how we work in civil litigation and it will really help you build your skills so that you can be effective as a paralegal.
