Hi, students. My name is Julie Beatle and I will be your instructor for domestic relations. The ways you can reach me are to send me a message with the icon at the top of the page. You can also email me at J Beatle at Lakewood dot E D U or you can call me at 1 805 170857 extension 713. I really like this class because this area of law is always busy. There's always room to grow and jobs in this profession and just like criminal law, it's another area of law that really impacts individuals quite frequently. So it is great to be able to help those people and to help you learn more about domestic relations. So my tips for you in this course would be to always reach out if you have any questions, if you don't understand an assignment, that's what I'm here for. And some of the assignments in this course can be a little bit, you know, different than what you have done in the past with drafting legal documents. So I'm here to help if you have any questions at all. and just be patient with the little details of um what needs to be proven to get child support or um an alimony award. Once you get a hang of those details, it'll be smooth sailing. So some of the things that you will learn about in this course will be what the role of a paralegal is in a family law or domestic relations office. We're going to look at premarital and cohabitation agreements. We're going to look at what's the difference between divorce, annulment and dissolution. And then of course, we will look at child custody, child support laws and spousal support or alimony and when that is going to be awarded. So we cover a lot of topics um but they are all essential to understanding domestic relations law.
