Video Transcript

Good morning. I'm your professor for psychology 100 Kelly Trent. And you can reach me at Kate Trent at Lakewood dot E D U. Some of the things you'll learn in this course are what psychology is. We focus a little bit about some aspects of the lifespan of human beings. We'll focus on consciousness including stuff like conditioning. We'll focus on memory, motivation and emotion, a little bit of, you know, personality traits. We'll learn about stress and health and how we can, you know, help that along, help you along with that. Um We'll also learn a little bit about social psychologies and methods of therapy. And again, one of my favorite lessons is where I ask you about yourself. So you can take a look back at your life and maybe learn some things that you didn't know about yourself or you might see some things in yourself that you see in other people and that'll help you along as well. Some helpful tips that I have for you to have success in this course are my number one tip is do your reading. My second tip is don't skip around. Um That'll confuse you a little bit and also stay engaged. I know it's a lot of reading but the, in the reading is interesting. Um, the lessons that I picked for you I find and I have found that students find them very interesting. They are things that you hear about in everyday life or, you know, you've heard people talk about it but when you do your readings you'll, you know, you'll get a more well rounded picture of the things that, you know, you've heard people talk about or, you know, some things you thought you knew. But, um, for success in this course, my main thing is, please, please do your reading, look at your lessons, the videos and your lessons and do not skip around and it will be to your advantage if you do your reading. The reason why I'm so excited about teaching this course. And I have been for years is because it's an interesting course. Psychology is something we all use in everyday life. Um, you will be engaged, you'll be interested and you'll find at the end of the course that you'll have learned a lot of stuff that you thought you knew, but you didn't know. And I think you'll enjoy the course just as much as I enjoy teaching it. And one more thing I want you to stay engaged. And I always like to say, I want you to learn something. I'm not trying to make the class hard. I'm just trying to make it interesting.
