Please tell us about your experience with Optilume® and how it has benefited your patients
Dean Laganosky MD: Hello, this is Dean Laganosky, one of the minimally invasive specialists and urologists with Solaris MidLantic Urology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For my practice, Optilume has really become one of the most favored options, for first-line treatment of BPH, side by side with medication therapy or a complete replacement of the medication therapy. Really, it allows a very quick recovery period for our patients. Patients are really satisfied with the significant improvement in their flow rate that they achieve within a couple of days after this intervention and the sustained results that they're able to achieve with the Paclitaxel in addition to the dilation of the channel through the prostate. In many cases, patients, comment on how straightforward the recovery period is and comparatively to a lot of the other minimally invasive options we have. It doesn't necessarily involve any heat therapy, vaporization, cutting, or burning the prostate gland, and there's no implant. It's also a situation where we really burn no bridges by doing this as a first line option. So many other treatments are always on the table if a patient ever needs something in the future. For me and instructing other providers in terms of how to think about Optilume BPH, I would look at this as a very effective first line therapy, that is minimally disruptive, straightforward recovery, and great, excellent reproducible results for your patients with BPH.
