Speaker: Jeri, Guitar Lessons with Chris
Question #1: Please start by telling us your 1st name, the 1st name of your instructor, and which instrument you're learning
Jeri: Hi, my name is Jeri, I have been studying guitar with Chris for a number of years now.
Question #2: Please name 3 things you've enjoyed about your lesson(s)
Jeri: There are so many things I enjoy about lessons with Chris, it's really kind of hard to narrow down 3. Probably the biggest thing is that over the years, what I want to work on keeps changing and evolving, and he's fine with that. He lets me set my own goals, and if I hit a time when I'm not feeling very motivated, well, he's got something new to show me, to motivate me and get me wanting to do what I've gotten slack about, He knows that as adults we things come up and you can't always. Do what you wanna do to be ready. Um, I've enjoyed learning many, many, many types of music and am continuing to evolve and learn, and it's all because he's right there with me.. to be my mentor and to be my guide.
Question #3: Did you find our live, online lesson format to be enjoyable and effective?
Jeri: I started out with Chris in a one-on-one format face to face, and when we switched to the online format, I have to say I was very skeptical and I wasn't very happy, but it has worked out well. He can actually see very well what I am doing. I could see very well what he's trying to teach me and show me. We can hear what each other is saying and doing very well. If there's a glitch, Chris talks me through on my computer how to fix that glitch. And then the other thing he does is he leaves me notes that are available immediately after the lesson so that I don't have to make notes about what we're working on and if I forget something, which I do frequently, I can go back and look and see, OK, this is how he told me to modify this, and now we move on from here. He can also leave me written materials that I can print off or put on the screen to look at, so it's not just the verbal. I really like the online now.
Question #4: Are you happy with the options and flexibility our self-booking system offers?
Jeri: Self booking was a challenge in itself for me as I'm not overly computer savvy. But what I find is that number one, I can see immediately what times are available with whomever I would like to take a lesson with. Then if I find someone like I know I want to take classes with Chris and I want them to be every week, then I have a subscription.. and that way I can keep my same time every week. I sign up at the end of the month for the next month. If I know I have something going on, I can schedule around that and I can see Chris's schedule immediately and be able to schedule around. If something changes in the middle of the month and I have to cancel (or reschedule) a lesson, well, I have a couple of days to change that lesson, and I can look and see, OK, are there other times available with Chris or even another instructor if I wanted to do that. It's been convenient and I really appreciate it, and I appreciate the regular notifications about, hey, you've got a class coming up and here is your Zoom (link). So that I can sign right on in when it's time.
