Please tell us your name, where you're from and a bit about your background

Josiah Miller: Hi, I'm Josiah Miller from Raleigh, North Carolina. I've got a varied background, starting all the way back in law enforcement straight out of college. I moved on to financial services, and then I dabbled in owning my own business for a while with a little bit of freelance work mixed in. So I guess you can say I'm a jack-of-all-trades.

What made you originally start thinking about a proofreading course or a career in freelancing?

Josiah Miller: I first started looking into a proofreading course because I really wanted to have something that verified my abilities, and I really wanted to see how well I could do in the field. I always had a passion for writing and editing. I love fiction, and it just seemed like the right direction for me to head. I wanted to get into freelance work, and I knew that there's a market out there that's tremendous for freelancers in terms of editing and writing. So I wanted to make the jump, and I started looking around, and it just really made sense for me to take the route of becoming a certified proofreader.

What was your overall experience with our Becoming A Proofreader course? What did you like in particular?

Josiah Miller: I really found the Becoming A Proofreader course to be of tremendous value. I started out with a little bit of hesitancy, but I quickly learned that it was something that was right along what I was looking for in terms of gaining the knowledge and experience, as far as training goes, needed to do the job. Some of my favorite aspects of the course were that it took you from A to Z, but it tested your knowledge along the way, and it also allowed you to get practical experience working on documents of different types, looking at formatting, looking at grammatical issues. It was a phenomenal way to learn, and I found it very helpful.

What was your experience with our guaranteed work offer with Proofed? How has the course helped you reach your goals?

Josiah Miller: Working with Proofed has been a once- in-a-lifetime experience. I've gained so much knowledge and so much experience from day one. I've worked on documents from research papers to brochures. I've helped write for the marketing team. I am currently working on a team that edits and proofreads audiobook scripts, which has been one of the best experiences that I've ever had in terms of editing. It's definitely helped me reach my goals. I still hope to someday do freelance work full time, and I know that Proofed is gonna be one of the key reasons that I'm gonna get there.

What would you say to someone thinking about taking the course?

Josiah Miller: I'd say if you were thinking about taking the Becoming A Proofreader course, I'd jump right in and do it. It's worth the money. It's worth the time. You'll have a great experience. You'll learn a lot, and at the end of the day, you will be a better proofreader and editor for it. Even if you've had experience in the past, I'm confident that it will help you become a better proofreader. There's so much information. It's easy to follow. You can do it at your own pace. There's just . . . it's a no brainer.
