Speaker: Dominic Erway
Please introduce yourself - what is your name & business or organization?
Dominic Erway: Hi, my name is Dominic. I am six years old and I'm an entrepreneur.
What was the first step you took in your kidpreneur journey? What were some of the challenges you faced in starting your own business?
Dominic Erway: My, um, my first business was shoveling driveways when I was five. Some of the, some of the challenges, some, some of the challenges were high because the snow was high. Very heavy, wasn't it? Uh, very heavy too?
What feedback have you received and how does it make you feel? How do you celebrate your accomplishments?
Dominic Erway: My parents are very proud of me um for, for doing the business and um I want to get money to buy legos.
What is your most proud moment or important lesson you've learned? What are your upcoming goals or projects you are working on?
Dominic Erway: Ok. So, Dominic, what's the most important lesson that you've learned and starting a business? Was it easy? No, it was not easy. Oh, what was it hard? Uh-huh. Because, um, say if you were doing snow shoveling, you would need shovels. Um, you need to buy shovels and you would need to buy gloves. Um, a hat, um, a scarf, um, snow, snow boots, snow pants, um, a s a snow shirt, um, a jacket, um, a snow jacket and, um, and if the snow was heavy then you would, um, you would, um, need to work extra hard because if the smell is light, then you would only need to look a little bit. But if you, um, but if the smell is heavy and it went up to here, then you would need to look a lot. What did you learn about the lemonade stand? Um, and the lemonade stands kind of easy because you only need, um, the ingredients to make it if you have it. And, um, and you need ice and, um, and, um, and you need to stand to put it on and so, um, that's, that's it.
What is your advice to other kidpreneurs who are thinking of starting their own business?
Dominic Erway: Ok. So if other kids were talking to you who wanted to start their own business, what would you tell them that? It's not easy? And you need supplies because, um, if you were doing gardening you would need a lawnmower, gloves, buckets to put the, um, to put the weeds in and, um, and probably awake and a leaf blower. Um, Andreas. And, um, and, and, but if you start a lemonade and you would need to stand the ingredients, um, a big job to put it in and cups. Um, so, so, um, so it's not very easy to be an on trip. A, how does it feel once you get paid once you start making money? Good. Just good. Yeah. Well, what do you do with all your money? I spend it on legos and you buy LEGOS until my whole basement filled with, like, there's no more room and I don't know what to do with them. And I'm, I, I don't know, do you think you'd be able to have that many Legos if, um, you, you didn't start a business? No. And if my grandma didn't give me that $100 bill. Oh, my God, you did get some money from grandma. Yeah.
