Speaker: Robert DeWitt, SVP
What was life like before you joined Kettlebell Transformation?
Robert DeWitt: So before KT, you know, I've, I've done many different things over the years, uh, trying to stay consistent in, you know, health and wellness. Uh, I've used my fitness pal, on and off tracking my food, my intake, um, I've done, you know, various different exercise routines, love to run but it was inconsistent at best, usually based on timing, uh, Peloton Orange theory, P 90 X, you know, all various different things over the years. Um, but it was not to the level of consistency that it comes with the KT program, I think, you know, a lot of that has to do with the outline of the program. Um, the simplicity of it for as, as effective as it is. Um, but that's pretty much where I was, you know, before KT kind of struggling on and off, you go, you know, spend a few months focusing on it. Ride the Peloton, you know, four times a week, um, watch what you're eating and then all of a sudden it kind of fades away because life gets in the way and you get busy. So, um, it's pretty much where I was before starting. KT some, you know, give or take seven months ago now.
What were the stats around your weight & health prior to joining KT?
Robert DeWitt: And before I started KT, you know, I was up and down in weight from, you know, high, two twenties to high two thirties. Uh, always when I'd reached, you know, the mid 2 30.2 35 would be the, you know, kind of the check in point of, you need to do something, you need to get back into a program. Um, you know, I've been fighting it for years age schedule. Um, don't help. And, uh, when I started the program, I was, you know, 237 um, and that was in January of this year, uh, right before my 50th birthday, um, you know, blood work was ok. It was good. Um, blood pressure is good. Um, you know, general fitness was good. I thought it was good. Um, you know, I could always do what I needed to do without any, you know, any concern. I wouldn't mind running, you know, a couple miles here and there ran a, uh, 10 mile race right at the beginning of KT. So it's, you know, was able to handle those, um, challenges. But certainly now, looking back at it, uh, at a different level than where I am now. So like seven months into the program.
What were your most pressing concerns surrounding your health prior to joining KT?
Robert DeWitt: My biggest pressing concern would and what drove me to KT was uh just trying to get the house in order, trying to get myself, um you know, committed in better shape, healthier to work on, you know, ultimate longevity and not just, you know, getting to ensuring that I can, you know, live longer but live that life, you know, healthier, active. Um you know, I have always been active, continue to be active, but, you know, could see that it was getting harder and harder to maintain or try and lose weight or stay in shape. Um and thought that, you know, the, the point where I was reaching uh turning 50 this year, kids are getting older, I really needed to, you know, take, take a, take a pause and figure something out that was something I could do, you know, certainly immediately to make a change. Uh But then something that can continue to do for the next, you know, 5, 1015, 20 plus years to ensure that, you know, not only can I remain healthy but also, you know, be active in that, in that, you know, 2nd, 3rd phase of life here. And um, you know, continue to do things that I want to do.
When making the decision to join KT, what were you most concerned about?
Robert DeWitt: We made the decision to join KT. Um Yeah, I, I think the biggest concern I had was, is this gonna be right for me? Um You know, obviously you gotta get over the hurdles of it cost money. Um You gotta get over the hurdles, it's gonna take work. There's no, you know, magic pill or 30 day fix that's gonna just, you know, automatically drop 2030 40 pounds um and make you strong as hell. It, it just doesn't exist. Um I think my biggest concern was am I gonna get into this or like, you know, the, the guys that are doing this are crazy. They're all a bunch of, you know, 25 year old guys that are just shredded, slinging kettlebells all day long. Um So, you know, I was, I was concerned, was it, was it gonna be right for me? Um Was it gonna be something that I'd want to ST stick with? Uh was it something that I could do physically? You know, I've, I've had years of uh shoulder issues, you know, over the over the last 20 years. Um Is it something that's gonna bother me while I'm doing this, you know, these odd exercises that, you know, I've never done a Turkish get up before joining this program. Um, and quite honestly, e every one of those things to date that, you know, and I'm seven months in, I'm in the middle of my 2nd 16 week program, um, has been, you know, proven to be false. My shoulders feel better than they've ever felt. Um, I've learned what is, you know, what amounts to fairly simple exercises. You know, there's, there's like only a handful of core exercises that are executing. You're not doing, um, you know, some of the stuff that you'll see these influencers do on online where it's like, you know, flipping kettlebells around and doing all kinds of crazy stuff. It's really like, it's a fundamental set of exercises. Uh, so, you know, I was concerned about being able to execute that. I was concerned about being remaining interested in it. Um, and I could tell you, you know, again, middle of the 2nd 16 week program, I'm excited about what's next, um, every day that, you know, it comes here, you're, you're excited about going, getting, getting that green check in, getting that exercise done, uh, posting it to the group to, you know, show that you're, you're doing it, you're keeping up and, um, so you're, you're just part of the tribe.
What made you take the next step anyway despite the concerns you had?
Robert DeWitt: You know, taking that next step wasn't easy. Um Again, you go, you get over the financial hurdle, but, um I just decided it was time to commit to doing something. Um And I, I was actually honestly at a point where just gonna commit if KT was right, that's fantastic. If it wasn't right, it was worth the investment to try and, you know, see where, where it'll take me over that 1st 16 week period. Um And I thought, you know, at, again, at a point for myself where I needed to make that change, that's what made me get over that initial hurdle. I'm like, you know, what it is, time to spend some, you know, hard earned money, effort, time in investing back into my own health and wellness. And ultimately, that's what made me take that first step. Um Again, that's the first step. Uh After that, it was, it was not even a, a hesitation to continue on into the program just because of what it had given me over the 1st 16 weeks.
What's life like now after implementing the KT System?
Robert DeWitt: So, after implementing the KT program, it's, it's greatly simplified. Um, certainly my approach to fitness and even my, uh, approach to nutrition, uh, I know what I need to do every day. Um, you know, whether that's the KT workout, which is four days a week or the other three days a week where I'm just focused on getting in my steps and, and focusing on nutrition, um, had all the right pieces and parts for the nutrition part, but it's really about pulling them all together, um, and doing them on a consistent basis and being held accountable for that. You know, I think that certainly is what, uh, where I've come in the, in the, you know, seven months being in the KT program, uh, down 20 pounds. Quite honestly. That's, you know, that's just one of the metrics. It's, it's something I was, I am very excited about. I was very excited about in the beginning and I'm just actually really enjoying, you know, the fitness aspect of it. I feel better. Uh, I feel stronger. You know, one of the sayings in the group is, you know, you, you can't not get as strong as hell. And it's true. I mean, you are, you're doing, you're doing things that you've, you know, some of us have never done, uh, maybe if you've done kettlebells before and in your fitness routine you've done these, these exercises. Um, and I, you know, I've come a long way from doing, you know, initial body weight, Turkish get ups learning the, learning the moves to all, you know, starting with probably a 25 pound uh dumbbell because I didn't have a kettlebell that, that size to now doing, you know, repping a 32 K kettlebell and maxing currently at 36 K, which, you know, is 80 pounds. Um It's, you know, it's, it's not something I even thought I was gonna do back in January when I joined the program. I was like, you know, just want to get into it, start the process. At that point. I was, you know, hoping I could get the 16 K up confidently and not hurt myself. Um But, you know, at no point in the progression, it just, it really is a logical uh amount of steps that gets you from, you know, your first day you're on boarding to where you're in the groove, you know, weeks, 4567 of the initial program to where you really, it really starts to, to, to uh set in and you really start to see progress and you really see like this truly is the way
