Passant Shaker: KGI stood out to me from other schools as a place that values diversity and inclusion and incorporates a really unique learning styles. My cohort is larger than other genetic counseling programs which I love and helps my learning. As I get to hear multiple different opinions and views on the different topics we discussed related to our future in genetics. We also get the opportunity to learn with other students and other programs and get ahead of the game and how to work with other health care professionals. It's a skill that's valuable, especially in the patient facing clinical space. And I was so excited when I matched with KG I my top school because that meant that I could stay in California and also get to rotate with so many different clinics and hospitals, gaining this rich rotation experience that will help my growth and my understanding of how to better serve the patients. I see both now and in my future, my favorite specialty is always changing, but I'm especially loving pediatrics and cancer and pediatric cancer KG. I is helping me narrow down the specialties that I want to work with while still giving me that well rounded education. And we get to learn about all these specialties that may even be more niche because it's something that's important for us to understand as we don't know where we'll end up in the future, but we can feel prepared and it's also preparing us for this upcoming board exams. I'm excited to be a student at KG I and I'm grateful for the, all the opportunities that this program in school provides me.
