Why do you love helping customers on JustAnswer?
petdrz: I've been a veterinarian for 38 years and I've been working as an Expert with JustAnswer in the veterinary field for 15 years. And I just love it because it is something that allows me to, practice my profession remotely and helping people when they need help in their homes. Most of the time it's just helping them to decide if they need to seek in-person care with their veterinarian. But a lot of times it's something that we can solve at home and get the animal feeling better right away.
What types of questions do you get on JustAnswer?
petdrz: The kinds of questions that I get on JustAnswer are very diverse. There's a lot of questions about dogs and cats getting into things that may or may not be toxic and the owners just don't know. There's a lot of questions about skin problems, ear problems, those are very common, GI problems. And a lot of times there are some things that the owner can do at home before seeking out their veterinarian or it might even solve the problem itself. And so I really like being able to kind of be that first step between the problem and then the veterinarian.
What’s your most memorable or heartwarming story with a customer?
petdrz: Having been working on this site for so long, there's been so many, I probably can't even remember them all. But the ones that always come to mind and stick out the most are ones where you really made a difference with the timing of your recommendation. One in particular was a cat with a urinary obstruction, that if they would have waited until their vet opened, the next day the cat would have been very, very sick. So acting quickly, instructing them what to do so that they could get this problem solved quickly was very important. But I think always too, it's just so meaningful when the next day you talk with them or later in the evening and they'll get back with you and just let you know that the pets feeling better. And I especially love when they send me a picture of their pets because that's the link that's missing when you work, online. And so that's always very gratifying.
