Why do you love helping customers on JustAnswer?
RonaldW0608: One of the reasons why I was attracted to becoming an expert with JustAnswer is based on my history of public service. First, as a consumer protection attorney for the Federal Trade Commission for over 20 years and then as an administrative law judge doing disability decisions for 13 years. So by being in public service for all that time, I have gotten into the habit of dealing with consumers, protecting them, understanding them, hearing what they need.
What types of questions do you get on JustAnswer?
RonaldW0608: I continue to be amazed at the diverse scenarios and problems that people reach out to for experts at JustAnswer. These include consumer protection issues, social security issues, issues about contract law, warranties, debit cards, credit cards. And I find that I'm able to give guidance and learning skills where people can help solve their own problems with the guidance that I've given them.
What’s your most memorable or heartwarming story with a customer?
RonaldW0608: What I've learned in my legal career of over 40 years and in being an expert at JustAnswer is people want to be heard. People want to be understood. People want to know that other people care about their problems. In particular, I dealt with a woman recently who was a victim of identity theft. She reported her problem to the Social Security Administration or so she thought. I gave her guidance on solving her identity theft issues and about what she could do to help prevent herself from becoming a victim. And again, in the future, how to protect her identity, how to protect her credit card information. And one of the things I discovered is she thought she had filed a complaint with the Social Security Administration and they had given her a case number and that a US Marshal was going to come to her home. I was quite concerned about that. I told her to call the police and file a police report because I was worried about her safety and she did that and I was very happy for that positive outcome.
