Speaker: Kelli Warner, Application Developer

What opportunities or experiences at JDXpert have contributed most to your professional growth and how?

Kelli Warner: When I started at JDXpert, I was working in implementations and I had the opportunity to work with clients and understand how they use the system. When I moved into development, that was really valuable for me in figuring out how to solve problems and helping Q A with knowing where to test and it continues to help me. In addition, my manager is always offering me new opportunities to expand my coding skills challenges for me and areas that I haven't worked in before.

In your time at JDXpert, when have you witnessed our core values making a real difference in decisions or actions?

Kelli Warner: One of the core values at JDXpert that I think really stands out is collaboration. I see this every day in my own team in development amongst the developers, we are constantly bouncing ideas off of each other. Asking do you think this is a good idea for solving this problem? And we work a lot with Q A as well. They come to us with questions about how it's expected to work and in turn, we go to them with how do they think it should work for our clients? So this the idea of collaboration is very strong within development. And I think this ultimately helps our clients.

What innovative project or initiative have you been a part of at JDXpert, and how did it make a difference for our clients or the industry?

Kelli Warner: I was involved with the efforts to V2ize our system. So we were on a V1, we called it and we went through a massive overhaul which we call V2, which enhanced a lot of the main screens that our clients use. The most frequently accessed areas of the system. And not only do we make it look a lot better and a more modern and up to date with other applications. But we also simplified things. So we made a lot of areas more streamlined and easy for our users to understand. And also by making things simpler, we make our, our development cycles more efficient, we can go through testing quicker. We don't have to test so many different variations if our clients are all using what we define as the best practice and we base that best practice on what are most of our clients using. So I think this was really innovative and it's really helped streamline our processes.

Can you share an experience where you felt especially connected with your colleagues? What made it so special?"

Kelli Warner: Recently, we had our company wide meetings where we got to split up in teams as one of our activities. So the teams were made up of, of people from a from all the different areas of the of the company. So you were on a team with people in areas that you don't normally work with. And we got to do silly goofy things and we were competing against our, our other coworkers also split into teams. And this, I think is really helpful in bringing us closer together. And it lets us get to know folks that work in areas that we don't necessarily get to communicate with on a daily basis. In addition to that, we also have opportunities at work to talk to our colleagues at a more social level. And I think that that this helps us connect better and then it helps us do our jobs better because we build up this trust with our coworkers that I don't think we would normally have if we didn't have that, that outside of work kind of social interaction, I think this is really valuable and I appreciate that the company offers us these opportunities

When you've faced challenges or frustrations at work, in what ways have your colleagues and JDXpert supported you?

Kelli Warner: Whenever I'm stuck on a particularly challenging issue in the code or I'm trying to figure something out and logic, I know that I can always reach out to my colleagues, I can reach out to my fellow developers to help me out with a piece of code. I can reach out to my manager to solve a problem or advise on what, what should we do? This is what we've got, but what should we do and can lay out the, the things that I've researched and, and he always provides, helps provide guidance or if he can't, he points me to someone who can and sometimes that means we reach across teams and, and go to the folks that deal with the clients directly. But I always feel like I can phone a friend when I'm stuck, I can always reach out to my, to my colleagues and, and someone's gonna help me out. It's a great feeling knowing that, that we all work together and we all help each other in those ways.
