Speaker: James, Merseyside police

When did you first hear about Serve and Protect Credit Union and why did you join?

James: So I heard about the credit union many years ago when I first joined the police and I got myself into a bit of bit of money issues, going out too much, partying too much and didn't have responsibilities like I have now. And then as time's gone on I've learned to use it more sensibly. Instead of borrowing I now save, so life is very much better, calmer... ish.

How has the credit union helped you?

James: I've saved with the credit union from the start. And at times of trouble, it's always helped me out with little loans here and there. Consolidation loans, things like that. And as times gone on, I've become more sensible, save money. And I've saved quite a lot, and I use it as a savings fund for holidays. And it really makes sense.

What is the best thing about being part of the credit union?

James: I find the credit unions like a comfort blanket for me. It's always kind of there. And I I've got savings getting put away each month straight out my out my paycheck. And I also know that if I do need anything that I haven't got enough money for, it's quite easy to borrow. And it's a hassle free way of saving and borrowing at the same time, if you need to. At the moment, I'm saving more and it helps out when it comes to holidays and paying for little people who cost a lot of money, don't you?
