What is your name and where do you live?
Joy Chang: I'm Joy Chang and I live in Short Hills, New Jersey.
How did visiting the factory (TGT) deepen your appreciation for the craftsmanship behind our products?
Joy Chang: Visiting the TGT factory, really showed us just how amazing the craftsmanship was in our garments. I mean, before we even stepped into the factory, they had us kind of do some of our own tests to show us what the factory workers have to do before they can even be allowed to, you know, touch our garments. I mean, there were, there were color blindness tests, there were tests to see if you could get the thread through the needle, which I failed miserably. I cannot thread through the needle to save my life. And then there were QC tests that we had to do, to pick out what was wrong with certain garments and it was just very interesting to see like how much goes into all of this. Then we get into the factory, and seeing all of the different, like the number of people that touch the garments from step to step is amazing. I mean, it starts from the fabric rolls. I mean, you have one person inspecting every single roll of fabric that comes through, and then you have the machines that are cutting the linings and cutting the patterns for the garments. And then you've got the person who's just handling all of the trims, like, you know, they're getting all the buttons and the thread and everything for each garment together. And there's just so many steps and that's even before the the garments even start to get sewn. And then once they start to get sewn, you have the experts at each level who are just doing their same thing for each garment because they are the experts, the person who's hand sewing in the you know, the sleeve to the chess piece, they're hand sewing every single jacket. And it's just really, really amazing to see the level of craftsmanship behind every single step of our product.
