Speaker: Megan Gallagher, Physical Therapist
Megan Gallagher: My name is Megan Gallagher. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York and I am part of the orthopedic residency.
Where did you go to school, and how long have you been with Ivy? We'd love to hear what initially brought you to join the Ivy team!
Megan Gallagher: I completed both my undergrad and graduate education at Quinnipiac University. I started with Ivy then in the fall of 2023, about three years after I graduated. I started there as a travel physical therapist. There was a three month contract with Ivy up in Westchester County. And then I realized that I liked the company. I liked the people that I worked with and I was getting a little bit tired of moving around all the time. So I decided to interview with Ivy at a couple of clinics in Brooklyn. And I found one that I liked and love working with the people that I do in my clinic. And so I've stayed and I've since been at my current location for about a year now, which is the longest physical therapy job that I've ever held. Considering this is my first job, not a travel PT.
What are you most excited about as you begin this residency program? What do you hope to accomplish during your time here?
Megan Gallagher: One of the things that I'm most excited for within this next year of residency is just being able to learn as much as I can. I'm the type of person that loves sitting in a classroom and listening to someone lecture about a topic that they are so passionate about and it helps that I am also very passionate about the topic that they're lecturing about. During my time in this residency, I'm really hoping to just gain more confidence in myself and gain more knowledge so that I can not only be a better clinician and a better therapist to my patients, but also be a better mentor to the students that come in when I'm their CI and being able to give them as much knowledge and education that they need for their clinical rotations. Everything moving forward.
