Speaker: Katherine Burns, Clinic Director, Physical Therapist
Katherine Burns: Hi, my name is Katie Burns and I am from Michigan where I am the clinic director in Adrian, Michigan and the pediatric physical therapist. I will be starting the pediatric residency program with Ivy.
Where did you go to school, and how long have you been with Ivy? We'd love to hear what initially brought you to join the Ivy team!
Katherine Burns: I completed my undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and then my physical therapy degree at the University of Michigan - Flint. And my very first job outside of PT school was at Ivy Rehab in Adrian, Michigan. I then left to go to University of Michigan where I spent a year learning how to be a pediatric pelvic floor physical therapist. And then after that year, I came back to Ivy to bring my knowledge and skills as a pediatric pelvic floor physical therapist, as well as all my experience that I gained in general pediatric care. And in total, I will have been with Ivy for my first time was a year and now I have been here since September. So going on three months.
What are you most excited about as you begin this residency program? What do you hope to accomplish during your time here?
Katherine Burns: I am super excited to start this residency program. I am willing and ready to learn everything that I can. It's been a while since being outside of school. And I love learning about the new research that comes out about the different types of treatment we do and how to provide the best care for our patients and for ourselves as we go through this process, as well as meeting all of the other awesome people in the residency program who are of a similar mind and are ready to learn and be the best therapist that we can possibly be.
