Speaker: Kaitlyn Irwin, Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Kaitlyn Irwin: My name is Caitlyn Irwin. I work in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and I am starting the pediatric OT residency in January.
Where did you go to school, and how long have you been with Ivy? We'd love to hear what initially brought you to join the Ivy team!
Kaitlyn Irwin: I did my undergraduate at Villanova University where I studied psychology and Spanish with a minor in education. I then did my graduate OTD up at Tufts University in Massachusetts where I stayed and worked for a year before coming back down to Pennsylvania. Actually, my Ivy story is kind of funny. I was at the AOTA conference presenting. I knew I wanted to move down to Pennsylvania and I was talking to some of the different booths and I came across my clinic director, Elaine Doherty, who will also be my mentor in the program. And she and I hit it off and we actually had the same shirt. And so when I came back and interview, we realized that it was the same person based on that shirt. So, that kind of initially drew me in, but I really loved everything that Ivy had to offer. I knew I wanted to stay in outpatient and, and that there was a lot that the company had to offer me.
What are you most excited about as you begin this residency program? What do you hope to accomplish during your time here?
Kaitlyn Irwin: In starting this program, I am really excited to continue to deepen my knowledge to best help support the clients and families that I work with. I really love to learn, and so by having that kind of that structured opportunity to deepen my professional knowledge and then apply it with the families and kiddos and teens that I work with. I'm really excited to be able to do that. I think in terms of accomplishments of what I would like to accomplish during the program, I think really focusing in on, you know, diving into some of those deeper cases, some of those trickier cases, having those specialty knowledge and things that I can use to broaden my practice and deepen my practice.
