Share your favorite thing about being an instructional coach for iteach!
Veronica Hernandez: My favorite thing about being an instructional coach for I teach was helping teachers in their first year problem solve and think about situations in their classroom. I really like the community that we built during our huddles, they were able to come together and support one another, which allowed me to kind of sit back and become more of a facilitator, which I really like that because I explained to them that this is how professional learning communities work.
What does your role look like as an instructional coach?
Veronica Hernandez: My role as an instructional coach for I teach was to support the candidates through their reflection pieces. And also during huddles answer any questions that they had about things that were happening in the classroom.
What would be your advice to anyone who wants to become an instructional coach for iteach?
Veronica Hernandez: My advice for anyone who's thinking about becoming an instructional coach is to do it. It is a great opportunity to meet new teachers and to guide them as they work through their first year. There were many times where I myself felt reenergized just talking to people coming into our profession with fresh ideas, new ideas and allowing me to help them think through their um ideas, their problems. Uh I highly suggest and recommend if you are available and if you are able to do it, sign up for it.
