Speaker: DR PEERZADA OVAIS AHMAD
How has the Allan Drash Fellowship impacted your work back home?
DR PEERZADA OVAIS AHMAD: Hi everyone. My name is Dr. Ovais Peerzada I am deeply grateful to ISPAD for awarding me an Allan Drash Fellowship. It was my first international exposure in the field of diabetes which I completed at John Hunter Children's Hospital in Newcastle, Australia. The fellowship had a significant impact on my work back home. I became an expert in managing type one diabetes using a concept that was new to our population. This approach led to a reduction in mean HBA1C and improved diabetes outcomes. Thank you.
What would you say to someone considering applying for the Allan Drash Fellowship?
DR PEERZADA OVAIS AHMAD: My advice to any clinician considering for applying for Allan Drash Fellowship is to have a genuine passion for managing type one diabetes and a strong interest in pediatric diabetes or type one diabetes in general. This fellowship is perfect for you. If you are truly committed to improving outcomes and aspire to become a leader in the field of type one diabetes.
