What is one way ISA student membership has helped either with your college experience or career aspirations?
Wilson Williams: Hi, my name is Wilson Williams and I am studying instrumentation engineering at Sass Polytech Collegiate. One way that I use the ISA membership to leverage in my education and my career aspirations is the networking events. It provides, it brings together um industry professionals uh people that are currently in the automation sector, students that are studying to be in the automation sector and brings the people together that kind of lead to in um job prospects down the road internships and just kind of learning where the automation sector is currently and where it's heading. Uh Secondly, uh financial support isa members are able to apply to for scholarships that are currently offered and possibly kind of offset the tuition of your education. Lastly is the resources it provides for skill development. As an ISA member, you have access to all the resources ISA provides through workshops, videos, all these things that kind of help you in your education right now and that you can use for further in your career.
Give an example of a time student membership was able to provide you with the opportunity for advancement.
Wilson Williams: So one of the ways um the ISA membership has given me an opportunity for advancement, is it sponsored a network event that brought together um automation experts, students, just like me and just like minded individuals. And at this automation event, it was all things automation, we kind of learned about where the automation sector is currently, where it's going um job opportunities, career advice, anything you want to know about automation, this event kind of had and it was very beneficial as a student because we really are kind of looking for information regarding that stuff and that's super beneficial to us.
Explain how ISA student membership benefits automation students or why joining an association is valuable for their career.
Wilson Williams: One of the ways the ISA student membership benefits automation students is its ability to give the students industry resources such as publications, be practices, um news articles, all these things relating to automation, which can be very beneficial for a student. Another is the professional development through workshops, um video conferences that you get access to and then networking events um that they also sponsor can be very beneficial. And lastly is the career support. They also provide giving you a direct link to many of the industries and possibly lead to an internship as a student and possibly a job opportunity down the road.
