Problem: Leading Remotely With Influence and Discovering Your "Secret Sauce"
How did your confidence and clarity grow as a result of understanding your unique leadership identity?
Ryan Wiggins: I first started meeting with Roger when my family had an international posting and moved back to the US. And I was trying to figure out how to lead from afar and out of a position more of influence than authority. And so part of that discovery process with me working with Roger was he helped me figure out what my secret sauce was. And really what it allowed me to do is to know how to do any job really by using that secret sauce. And it gave me a CONFIDENCE that I could do that job. It also helped me UNDERSTAND what jobs are BEST suited for me, which led me to the job that I'm currently in. I probably would not have applied for this job. I definitely would not have gotten the job had I not met with Roger and understood that secret sauce of my leadership and it is helping me THRIVE as I've been in this role for about a year and a half. Now to be able to really KNOW that secret sauce and to be able to use it and have CONFIDENCE that this is the way the Lord designed me in order to do the work he has planned for me.
Navigating Your Career With Confidence
What are the tangible results and benefits you realized as a result of working with Roger?
Ryan Wiggins: I think when Roger helped me figure out my secret sauce, it really helped me understand the type of role I was looking for within the organization I work for. And it, it helped me to seek out, apply for and then GET the job. And now it's really, I'm SEEING RESULTS in the way that I lead. There's a CONFIDENCE in leading when I walk into a meeting or I walk into a group of people of the staff that I lead around the state of Tennessee. There's a CONFIDENCE of knowing this is the WAY that I'm DESIGNED TO LEAD and this is the secret sauce of my leadership. And so I can function out of that. And so the TANGIBLE RESULTS are that we're moving forward as an organization and tangible results are that I have this job and that I'm really EXCELLING at it. And a large deal due to Roger help me discover the secret sauce and figuring out how to use that in my leadership.
Individualized Approach
What makes Roger's coaching style effective and unique?
Ryan Wiggins: My favorite part of working with Roger is that it's a very INDIVIDUALIZED approach that he uses, that he works with me as an individual instead of just having some kind of mechanism that you go through that everybody is the same. I appreciate the things, the assignments he gave me to do the work he had me do on my own and then we would come back together and help me process and figure out what it was that was my secret sauce. And I don't believe it was like a list of things that he says or these are the things that could be your secret sauce. It was something very much INDIVIDUALIZED for me. So I really appreciate how Roger works with me as an individual and not just thinking of me as like I might be somebody like somebody else.
