Speakers: Deb, Pastor of Adult Ministry, LSA

Deb: Hi, my name is Deb. I'm the adult ministry pastor here at LSA in Tecumseh, Ontario. I wear many hats. I am the pastor over care here and also in engagement in the foyer on Sundays, but my main role is with the adult ministry and, underneath of that, men's ministry, women's ministry, community groups. Our mission is to help people receive Jesus and to develop in him to disciple people.

Describe the challenges your ministry was facing before using IHUBApp.

Deb: In the last 15 years or so, I've seen the church go through at least 3 programs, just trying to help us to be better communicators and to be organized. Technology has never been one of my, biggest fortes, but I've always been willing to learn. I did find that, working at my desk at the computer, really took a lot of my time and as I described the many hats that I wear. Much of with people, I felt very strapped to my computer at the desk, which, wasn't really good for time management. And my communication just was probably lacking because I wasn't really out there with the people as much. I found that very difficult.

What impact has IHUBApp had on your ministry?

Deb: So, just thinking about the time management side of things, I had a gentleman come up to me who wants to run an adult, course, 6-week course on how to read the Bible. So I'm like, oh, that's fantastic. Let's get started. So, what I can do now is I can, have our channel owner who is just like 3 doors down from my office, somebody within. The church here, create a channel for this gentleman. So now, a couple of things, Once the gentleman has the group around his table because we're advertising for him, on Sunday mornings that people can join this. Once they're sitting around the table, then he can encourage them to become members of his channel. That way, when they become members, anything that this gentleman wants to post to them or message to them or link something to them, he's able to do that. And they're not going to get anything else from any of the studies that are happening. They're only going to get information that has to do with what they signed up for, for those 6 weeks. And if the gentleman was sick one night or if it was bad weather, he would be able to cancel and he wouldn't have to go through the church. He wouldn't have to go through me, and that's really good for my time management. He can be as creative as he wants to be, but, it's not going to be hard for him because the templates are already made. So if he finds a link to maybe a pastor that's speaking brilliantly on the topic that he wants to bring into the class, he can just share that link, by pulling it, dropping it, or just a quick message, Hey, if you're interested in more details, look at this link. If you're not, no worries. It's just been really great to be able to empower a volunteer to really own it and at the same time kind of leave me out of it, which is really good for me.

What would you say to another ministry leader who’s thinking about using IHUBApp?

Deb: Honestly, I think anybody would love it. It's easy to use, user friendly for, well, not everybody is 65 and feels like they're. not real technical, but I do fit into that category, and I do struggle with technology. This has been very, very easy for me. And because our whole team is using it, if I ever have a question, somebody is always right there to answer it for me. I'm one of those people who believe that knowledge is power, and, I find that I'm not only knowledgeable because I have right there on my phone. At any time, my website from the church, and I also am able to pass that on to my volunteers. Anytime you can pass on fantastic resources to your volunteers, that's a big win.

Three words you would use to describe IHUBApp?

Deb: Three words to describe IHUBApp Right On Time!
