Who are you, what is your job title and where do you work?
Jim Fletcher: Hi, my name is Jim Fletcher. I'm the highway superintendent for the town of Canandaigua
Before working with Innovative Surface Solutions, what challenges were you facing in your winter maintenance operations?
Jim Fletcher: So prior to working with Innovative's Ultra 2000. We used to use a fair amount of extra salt to remove any snow and ice due to cold temperatures. Which would lead to environmental issues on the shoulder. Since using the product of the Ultra 2000, we now can use this product below 20 below zero. We're using less salt per lane mile, and it provides a big help to us by getting the roads cleaned up faster and less trips out on the road.
Can you describe what it was like working with Innovative Surface Solutions as you implemented using premium winter liquids?
Jim Fletcher: We got started with Innovative by working with first, Dave Cook, who brought to my attention need for liquids to our snow and Ice program. Innovative came out and did a demonstration with our town board to help. Myself. Help them understand what it means to have these liquids to make a difference in our community. It has worked out for many years now to help us reduce our salt load. And our salt usage Innovative has been there with tank storage, pumps, hoses, and knowledge of how to use the product for the past 10 years for us. Carl and his team at Innovative are always there for us and have not been an issue with getting deliveries and supplies on time.
What improvements or results have you seen since switching to our products?
Jim Fletcher: The improvements that we have seen are Protecting our environment, we are using a product that reduces salt, so there's less runoff to our streams, lakes, tributaries, drinking water sources. To the fact that this product allows us to. Use it at times in very cold temperatures all the time provides us a safer driving experience for the traveling public and provides better emergency services potentially when needed.
If another municipality or contractor is facing similar challenges, what would you tell them about your experience with Innovative?
Jim Fletcher: For those of you looking to change to a liquid, our experiences have been we need your staff to buy into the program of liquids. Also having the right equipment, they're working next to Innovative to put your material on correctly so that a proper job is done at all times. Without doing these few small things, you might not have a successful liquid program. For your municipality.
