Speakers: Kyle Conrad, Project Manager, Greene County Highway Department

Please state your name, your job title and who you work for.

Kyle Conrad: I am Kyle Conrad. I'm a project manager with Greene County Highway Department.

Could you describe why you purchased treated salt?

Kyle Conrad: We started using treated salt as a reason to try to get away from abrasive use usage. And we had a lot of pushback from the guys about straight salt and it not working because of lower traffic volumes and temperatures. So the treated salt kind of put their minds at ease a little bit as to how quickly it was gonna work and how it would work at, at colder temperatures.

If you had to choose one, what would be your favorite feature of treated salt? How has it made your life easier?

Kyle Conrad: So the treated salt, the biggest benefit for us is that it has allowed us to reduce our salt usage by 20 to 30%. The the fact that it works quicker and doesn't scatter bounce and scatter as much as the dry salt was has, has been a huge benefit.

What would you tell someone who's considering using treated salt?

Kyle Conrad: I think buying some treated salt if you're considering making the switch doing so is a, is a easy quick way just to see the performance. If you wanna go from there to pre wetting piles yourself or onboard wetting, I think buying some treated salt to begin with will give you a good sample of how this, this could possibly benefit you.

On a scale of one to ten, how likely are you to recommend treated salt to others?

Kyle Conrad: I would give treated salt a solid nine, nothing in this world is perfect. But this product definitely fills an itch and will improve your overall winter maintenance.
