Tell us about your company, your team, and your role?

Blaire Wee: Hi everyone. I'm Blaire. I'm currently in the Labuan base supply warehouse team. What I do as a business performance analyst is that I look after performance improvements in systems applications and also for people (shadowing my manager and warehouse crew).

What prompted you to search for a connected worker platform and what problems were you trying to solve?

Blaire Wee: (In my knowledge) what prompted us to search for a connected worker platform definitely is because this is not new at the Shell global level. There are a few connected worker platforms that have been introduced and deployed in the other shared assets and we also have a very strong collaboration with the IT support team. The IT SME actually would know what is the best connected worker platform to be deployed for our environment based on our situation. So the problems that we were trying to solve back then, back in 2017 with the previous warehouse team is that we want to provide a digitalized solution to the workers. We want to help them to simplify their work. load, save their time to do work. That's the ultimate purpose. And because back then the workers would need to walk here and there to do the transactions, the warehouse transactions, pick up the details and they need to walk back to their desk station to input the details in the SAP System. So that was not efficient in the long run, so that's why we wanted to find a great alternative. And this application came into the picture.

What Innovapptive solution(s) are you using and how have they benefited your team?

Blaire Wee: For us, we are currently using the mInventory application as one of the Innovapptive solutions. So mInventory is actually helping and benefiting our team in terms of we can use the application download on the iPhone or iPad device to carry out some essential warehouse transactions, for example, like cycle counting, stop picking goods received, goods issuance. So all this can be done seamlessly using the mInventory application And the mInventory application actually picks up the data and replicates the features from the SAP system. So it allows all the information at our fingertips. By using the device, we will be able to view all the material data and do the transactions accordingly real-time on the spot in front of the material.

What has your organization been able to achieve by using Innovapptive?

Blaire Wee: In summary, Shell Malaysia is able to achieve 72 mandays of efficiency gain per year by using the mInventory application. So the reasons why - the first one is because mInventory actually provides a level, a material level, that had been standardized. So we don't have to self-design and manually key in the information in a sticker or in desktop level in order for it to be printed. So that has been standardized in terms of the application. And the second one is that all the information are at our fingertips, replicated from SAP. So that's why it will minimize all the walking, the transportation ways for people to navigate here and there to record the maturity tales and to do set transactions. They will be able to take the pictures of the material straight away using the device and upload to the cloud. And it will be linked to the SAP system. And I think the third one is definitely it will help to minimize some steps in terms of the warehouse processes. For example like the set physical inventory document... It will be able to display in the mInventory app when the stock counting is carried out by the team.

Blaire Wee: In short, I would definitely recommend the Innovapptive solution based on my personal working experience with them whenever Shell has any feedback to raise through the IT support team, as the middle party, Innovapptive will always make sure to address the problems carefully and promptly and they will come back with a solution. And also they will provide a timeline on when the particular new feature will be deployed or will be included in the next upgrade. So there's something that we really appreciate. And also that is also the main point that we will recommend Innovapptive.
