Speaker: Minda Brooks, Program Director, North Carolina Leadership Forum
Introduce yourself by sharing your name, organization, and title.
Minda Brooks: Hi, my name is Minda Brooks. I'm the program director at the North Carolina Leadership Forum at Duke University.
Why did you engage Tracey and Indigo Innovation Group, and what were the critical areas that I helped you focus on?
Minda Brooks: We engaged Tracey as a facilitator for two of our regional forums on adequate housing, and she will join us again as a facilitator for our statewide forum on a very important topic; community safety.
What expertise did I bring, and what was unique about working with me?
Minda Brooks: At the North Carolina Leadership Forum, we bring together policy leaders to engage with each other constructively across their differences on critical issues facing our state. Because of these differences, whether it be their sector, expertise, their political affiliation, their geographic region, these individuals find themselves in a room with people that they don't normally have a chance to engage with in a real way. So, one of the most critical things that we have to do is create a space that enables our participants to get to know one another in an authentic way, and build enough trust so that they can say what they really think. Tracey has a wonderful gift of creating and maintaining that space. She has a way of framing the work, of reflecting back to the group what is happening in a specific moment, or over the course of an entire session that helps the group feel connected with one another and really invested in the process.
Highlight specific achievements, challenges overcome, and our collaboration's value to you and your organization.
Minda Brooks: Tracey always has the group's process and integrity front of mind. So, what that means is that she will often make observations, or she will ask questions that we wouldn't think of. And as a result, she makes us better, which then makes the whole process overall better for the group.
Provide inspirational words you would like to share to invite others to work with me and Indigo Innovation Group.
Minda Brooks: As a facilitator, Tracey exudes a confident, calming presence that enables groups to have difficult conversations and trust in the process. As a colleague, Tracey is flexible, she is generous, and she is values focused, and it is just a real pleasure to work with her. I have the greatest respect for Tracey and I couldn't recommend her more highly.
